BYT started with one horse and one pair of ears that nothing would fit.

BYT started with one horse. Bomond, my gelding, kept shaking his head in shop-bought ear bonnets — they simply did not fit him: too tight at the ears, too loose under the bridle. So I knitted a pair myself, choosing the yarn, trying it on, undoing and starting again.
Since 2023 every pair is knitted by hand, one at a time, for one specific horse and one specific owner. Not for a warehouse.
Every bonnet is knitted to individual measurements, so it stays in place during work and does not rub the base of the ears. Colours, edging and the BYT logo are made to order.
Soft mercerised cotton, hypoallergenic, holds its shape after washing. An optional noise-reducing insert goes inside the ear for horses that are sensitive to sound.
More than 30 designs are in the collection today, and every one of them can be knitted in your colours. If you want something that is not in the catalogue, write to us — custom work is the part of this job I like most.
